Hi there,

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.

It’s time for another blog hop with Stampin’ Up Demonstrators from around the world in Kylie’s Demonstrator Training Group.

I’ve been playing with the Free as a Bird stamp set and was inspired by a video by Gail O’Neill on painting with bleach.

For this card I tried the smooshing background technique where I scribbled Stampin’ Write Markers onto some clear plastic wrap, put water drops onto a piece of Shimmery White, and then laid the wrap on the wet cardstock to transfer the ink. It gave a lovely watercolour background which I left to dry naturally.

I stamped the bird image in an archival black ink and then used a dry Aqua Painter to paint the thick gel bleach from Aldi onto the bird image, including the branch, leaves and flowers. As an afterthought I put the watercoloured and bleached panel in the Subtle 3D embossing folder and ran it through my Big Shot machine. I matted the finished piece onto Bermuda Bay cardstock, and wrapped a short piece of Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle ribbon that I coloured with a Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker. I then adhered the panel to a thick whisper white card base. I stamped the greeting in Memento black ink and trimmed it to a narrow banner, then sponged the edges in Bermuda Bay ink using a dauber.

I was really happy with how it turned out I tried a couple more with different backgrounds. I decided to use an easy watercolour wash background in Blueberry Bushel for my classes last week.

I think I’ll be trying this technique with other images and background colouring techniques to see what happens!

Here’s a link to the rest of the blog hop, so grab a cup of your favourite beverage and get some inspiration from all of the lovely creations.
